Hi, I’m Dr. Megan Schlick
Kansas City Naturopathic Doctor
I specialize in uncovering the root causes of your health concerns by exploring key factors such as hormonal imbalances, stress and adrenal health, nutrient deficiencies, and gastrointestinal function, among others.
With over a decade of experience working in an outpatient hospital setting, I’ve had the privilege of helping thousands of patients identify effective diet, lifestyle, and supplement strategies for health improvement. I’m passionate about educating patients on their lab results, which often hold valuable insights that aren’t always thoroughly explained.
My goal is to ensure you leave with a clear understanding of what has been ruled out, identify immediate areas to address, and outline future considerations if your health goals are not fully met.
I advocate for a practical approach: Let’s focus on the most promising initial steps before considering more complex and time-consuming solutions.
I warmly welcome women, men, and teens (10 years old+) to my practice, and I look forward to partnering with you on your journey to better health.
How we work together to improve your health
Everyone’s focus will be a bit different, but with personalized attention to your symptoms and expert guidance of functional lab findings, many improvements are possible. By treating your whole person, improved health will follow.

MY APPROACH
as a Naturopathic Doctor in Kansas City
The ultimate goal is to eventually see you annually for health review and personalized labs, but at the beginning, could be 2-4 visits to confirm path, progress, and improvement.
BENEFITS of a naturopathic and functional approach to health:
Root Cause Focus: Identifies and addresses the underlying causes of illness, rather than just managing symptoms.
Personalized Care: Tailors treatments to your unique health needs, lifestyle, and genetic factors.
Holistic Approach: Considers all aspects of your well-being—physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
Preventative Care: Emphasizes prevention and long-term health by addressing potential issues before they become chronic.
Natural Therapies: Uses natural remedies like nutrition, herbal medicine, and lifestyle changes to promote healing.
Patient Empowerment: Involves you in your health journey, educating and empowering you to make informed choices.
Integrative Care: Works alongside conventional medicine, providing a comprehensive approach to your health.
Sustainable Health: Aims for long-lasting health improvements, not just short-term relief.
Improved Quality of Life: Helps enhance your overall quality of life by improving energy, sleep, mood, and more.
Cost-Effective: Can reduce long-term healthcare costs by preventing chronic conditions and reducing the need for medications.
HOW IT WORKS
Have you previously been a patient with Dr. Schlick? Click here.
If you are a new patient, follow the steps below:
Step One: Initial Inquiry
Fill Out the New Patient Inquiry Form: Click here to access the form. I will review your submission within one week to ensure we're a good fit. After the review, you'll receive an email with a link to our online scheduling system. If I believe another specialty would better serve your goals, I'll do my best to provide some suggestions.
Step Two: Scheduling Your Appointment
Select Your New Patient Visit Slot: Once approved, find a time that works for you. A credit card on file is necessary, and this card will be charged the visit fee, on the day of your visit.
Step Three: Your First Visit
Arrive Early: Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your scheduled time. The first visit typically lasts 75 minutes, allowing us ample time to dive deeply into your goals and current symptoms. Most patients leave this visit with recommended labs and detailed instructions on how, when, and where to complete them.
Step Four: Follow-Up After Labs
Review Your Lab Results*: Once your labs are back, schedule a follow-up visit, which usually lasts 45 minutes. We'll review your results line by line, so you understand what has been ruled out and what treatment path makes the most sense. If initial labs are optimal, but you still don’t feel great, we’ll consider more targeted specialty labs.
Step Five: Ongoing Care
Continue Your Journey: Depending on your goals and progress, you may have a check-in visit 2-4 months after your lab review appointment. Some patients may require lab monitoring, while others might only need to be seen on an “as needed” basis or annually for health check-ins. My ultimate goal is to get you to a place where an annual check-in visit is sufficient, with the option to pop in throughout the year if any health challenges arise.
*A Note on Labs
Most patients will leave their first visit with recommendations for functional lab assessments. We’ll discuss whether it makes sense to process these through your insurance or if private pay is more cost-effective. Blood labs are often the starting point, as many can be completed through Quest or LabCorp. For those who have already had comprehensive blood work, we may consider specialty labs, such as food sensitivity testing, advanced stool microbiome assessments, or saliva cortisol testing, among others.
You’re in the right place if:
You have unresolved symptoms that your primary care provider or local specialists haven’t been able to address successfully.
You’re open to making diet and lifestyle changes and are interested in incorporating supplements into your treatment plan.
You want to minimize the need for prescription medications and prefer exploring natural and holistic approaches to improve your health.
You’re ready to invest in functional lab work to gain a clearer understanding of your health. While my decade of experience allows me to see the different paths of considerations, the labs will provide the clarity and confidence we need to guide our next steps. Lab costs typically range from $100 to $200. I am committed to finding the most cost-effective options for these tests, and unlike many functional practices, I do not mark up lab fees.
